All camps feature luxury tented accommodation with en-suite facilities as well as a central dining and lounge area. Most have a plunge pool as well. The camps are located in low impact areas where you will see plentiful and diverse wildlife, but no tourist life.  Camps include the Premier  Mombo, King's Pool, Vumbura Plains and Jao camps for over-the-top luxury, still maintaining close contact with the natural habitat as well as the classic camps described below. The remote location makes road access impractical and these camps are reached by charter aircraft.  You will be as comfortable as you can be while being as close to nature as you can be. Whichever level, camps are constructed out of locally available materials - including teak, mahogany and ebony  and set in fabulous locations among stands of old growth trees such as ebony and cypress that provide natural shade from the mid-day tropical sun.  Where practicable the camps overlook permanent water. All of the Wilderness Camps are top notch, and you will be comfortable and have an excellent wildlife experience in any of them.  

Central Okavango and the Moremi wildlife reserve - offering the greatest diversity and density of wildlife in Africa. 

Mombo and Little Mombo Camps (Premier)  - This is the most sought after camp in Botswana offering one of the highest quality wildlife viewing opportunities in Africa. Situated on the northern tip of Chief's Island within the Moremi  Reserve in the central Okavango, the Mombo area provides large concentrations of wildlife, including all of the large predators. Birdlife is prolific as well. Several award winning wildlife documentaries have been filmed at Mombo making this Botswana's top wildlife documentary location. Mombo has just been rebuilt to offer an even higher standard of accommodation.  12 identical rooms have been divided into two independent camps, Mombo with 9 rooms and Little Mombo with 3.  Both camps have pools and raised walkways link bedrooms to the living areas.  Rooms are luxuriously appointed with en suite bathrooms and indoor and outdoor showers. Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, and professionally guided  walks for the closest possible contact with nature. 

Xigera Classic Camp  - Set within the Moremi Reserve, Xigera Camp is one of the Okavango's best kept secrets! Built on "Paradise Island" Xigera is an area of permanent water with numerous large islands that hold good concentrations of wildlife.  Xigera consists often luxuriously furnished tented rooms with en-suite facilities and an outdoor shower. Each room is raised off the ground on a wooden deck offering a superb vie-w of the seasonal floodplain and waterhole. Meals and evening drinks are enjoyed under the thatch of the raised lounge, pub and dining area overlooking a permanently flowing channel. A traditional African boma offers alternative dining under the African stars. Wooden walkways wind through the forest connecting the rooms to the main living area. For those hot days there is a small plunge pool in which to cool off. A feature unique to Xigera is the wooden footbridge connecting Xigera Island to the next. Guests are often treated to close-up views of lion, hyaena or leopard padding across the bridge as they move between islands. Xigera is one of the only Okavango camps to offer game drives, foot safaris, mokoro excursions, boating and fishing. Wildlife in the area includes lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and lechwe along with excellent birding. Great scenery and activities combined with privacy make Xigera a wonderful place to visit.Nestled in a magnificent riverine forest, The camp "newspaper" (a sand pit built into the bridge) is "read" each morning and provides information on unseen nightly visitors to camp.

Paradise for avid birdwatchers, Xigera is home to the Pel's Fishing Owl, African Skimmer, Slaty Egret, Wattled Crane, Lesser Jacana and a host of eagles, vultures, raptors and kingfishers. It also boasts the highest density of the rare and elusive sitatunga antelope found anywhere in the Okavango Delta. When water levels permit, game drives are an attraction. Some years we can drive throughout the year. If there has been a very high flood, we can only usually drive from late September to April.

Chitabe Classic Camp  - Situated in the eastern central Okavango bordering the Moremi Game Reserve.  This is strictly a game viewing camp and no water activities are available here.  guests are accommodated in 8 luxury twin bedded east African style tents, each built on raised wooden decks with en suite facilities. The main area includes a dining room, bar, lounge and plunge pool. Wildlife in the area includes elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog along with numerous plains game species. As the camp is situated on a private concession Chitabe's professional guides are able to offer guests day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, and walks.

Activities consist of day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles accompanied by an experienced guide. Nature walks, tailor made to suit the guests, are also offered. Game viewing is good, and includes Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Reedbuck, Giraffe, Impala, Zebra, Buffalo and Hippo. Depending on the time of year, Wild Dogs are also resident in the area. Night drives can be very rewarding, with good sightings of the rarer nocturnal animals.

One of the biggest assets Chitabe has to offer is its friendly and outstanding staff. Most of the staff working at Chitabe have been there since its inception seven years ago and it is this pride and loyalty that gives Chitabe its amazing atmosphere. It is without a doubt the "Soul of the Delta,"

Chitabe Trails Classic Camp   consists of five spacious and luxuriously appointed East African style tents that have en-suite facilities with flush toilets, and a shower and basin with hot and cold running water. Each room also has an outdoor shower, which overlooks the floodplain. Each room is on a raised deck and has an outdoor shower. The room interiors are of the same standard as its sister camp, Chitabe.

There is a dining area, lounge and pool. The camp overlooks a waterhole, where Elephants and plains game often come down to drink during the day. Activities consist of game walks, and day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, accompanied by an experienced guide.

Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Reedbuck, Buffalo, Impala, Zebra and Hippo are among the major game attractions of the area. Wild Dogs are resident in the area and can be sighted - depending on the time of the year.

Kwetsani Classic Camp  - One of the smallest and most charming camps in Botswana, Kwetsani Camp is built on a large elongated island o heavily wooded, cool and shady with Palm, Mangosteen and Fig trees and is one of the most remote camps in the entire Okavango Delta.  Kwetsani Camp is raised on stilts beneath a shady canopy. Five wonderful, spacious tree-house chalets are built under thatch roofs, with wood, glass and a little canvas. All have en-suite facilities including a shower, flush toilet, twin basins and an additional outdoor shower for those who like showering in the open air. The camp overlooks an enormous floodplain dotted with Lechwe and Wildebeest. Guests can lie in their rooms, or in the pool, and watch the animals in front of the camp. All the Okavango's large predators are found here.

Activities include mokoros, walking on palm-fringed islands and game drives during the day and night. During high flood water levels, the night drives are restricted to an hour's drive around the camp island. In the height of the Okavango's annual floods, boats are used to get around the area and also to transfer to the islands where the game viewing vehicles are located. Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog, Buffalo and Elephant are all found in this area, as well as good concentrations of Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, and all the plains game.


Jao Camp  (Premier) - Jao Camp is situated in a private reserve on a remote large island, to the west of the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Across the waterway in front of the camp, guests have access to open flood plains and savannah for a wonderful Okavango experience.

Guests are accommodated in nine large and spacious rooms. Each of the unique and beautiful twin-bedded canvas and thatched rooms has been individually handcrafted under the direction of renowned architects Sylvio Rech and Leslie Carstens. The rooms are built under a canopy of shady trees, with en-suite bathroom, hot and cold running water, a large bath and double vanity. There is an additional outside shower under the stars for those more adventurous guests who want to shower closer to nature. There is an outdoor "sala" for guests to enjoy midday siestas with a view and a breeze. The rooms are raised off the ground and offer wonderful views of the surrounding flood plains.

A raised walkway connects the rooms to the dining room and lounge area. There is a plunge pool and an outdoor 'boma' for dining under the stars, as well as an excellent wine cellar. Jao also offers a Salon with a fulltime therapist, offering a wide range of massage treatments. The activities at Jao include mokoro (dug out canoe) excursions, boats, fishing, day and night game drives and guided walks. If the area has a large flood, we usually have to boat to a large island, called Hunda Island, where vehicles would be waiting and the game drives start.

The area is extremely seasonal and the annual flood transforms the habitat from dry green open plains in summer to shallow flood plains in the winter. Access to this area is only by aircraft.
 

Jacana  Classic Camp - Small camp east of Jao Camp in the Jao reserve.  This is a true water camp offering mokoro and walking safaris year round.  Came includes sitatunga and red lechwe, elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo.  Accommodation in five meru-style tents on wooden decks overlooking the floodplains.  Situated about 25 kilometres west of Mombo, outside the Moremi Game Reserve on the Jao flats, Jacana Camp is a truly water-oriented camp and offers mokoro and walking safaris all year round.

From about September to May, as the floodwaters recede, game drives and night drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles are available - depending on water levels. The camp is set in one of the most densely populated wetland areas for Sitatunga and Red Lechwe - but game concentrations depend on water flow and volume and change from season to season.

All the big game can be found in the area - Elephant, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Pels Fishing Owl is a favourite amongst birders, as well as greater and lesser Jacanas. Jacana Camp has five meru-style tents. Each tent is built on a wooden deck overlooking the floodplains and has an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and shower.

The bathroom is enclosed, but roofless. The main dining area is on an elevated wooden deck between two magnificent sycamore fig trees and surrounded by dense wild date palms. Downstairs, there is a cosy pub and lounge, with an area to sit around an open fire under the stars.

Tubu Tree Classic Camp  - is  a traditional style tented safari camp built on raised wooden platforms to take best advantage of the beautiful view over the floodplains. The camp accommodates guests in 5 large, comfortable tents, each with a small, private deck in front.

All the tents have en suite bathroom facilities and private outdoor shower. The main dining and lounge areas are also large tents on raised platforms, with an outdoor pub area built under the canopy of a large Marula tree.

Activities at Tubu Tree Camp include day and night game drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles, as well as walking with an armed guide. When the Okavango's annual flood is at its highest (normally May to late September), boating, fishing and mokoro trips are also offered.

A variety of habitats ensures diverse and interesting game viewing. Wildlife seen here includes elephant, Lion, Zebra, Red Lechwe, Giraffe, Tsessebe, Wildebeest as well as Kudu, Impala, Leopard and Bushbuck.
 

Northern Okavango Delta Region - These camps are set within the Vumbura Community Development Concession, which is the largest concession in the Okavango region.  Set just to the North of the Moremi Reserve, this concession has permanent water, flood plains, and savannah offering both water and land activities. Bordering the Moremi Reserve Vumbura Camp offers both water and land activities. Vumbura has both wetland and savannah species of wildlife - red lechwe, waterbuck, hippo, and crocodile along with sable, kudu, wildebeest, and tsessebe which  roam the open plains. Herds of elephant and buffalo occur along with the predators - lion, leopard, wild  dog, and cheetah. Birding is also spectacular. Activities include mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions, walks, boating and game drives in open 4x4 vehicles. 

Vumbura Plains Camp (Premier)  -  Vumbura Plains  Camp is a luxury camp situated to the north of Mombo, in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta. Vumbura Plains overlooks a vast, attractive floodplain and the rooms are built under the shade of cool and shady trees. Vumbura Plains consists of 2 x 14 (2 x 12 until August) bedded camps linked by raised boardwalks and each has its own dining, lounge and bar area although all 28 beds or parts thereof can be utilised for larger parties. All 14 of the luxury rooms are raised off the ground on wooden platforms with walkways connecting them to the main living areas. Each room has a large, very comfortable bedroom, a lounge, a "sala" and en-suite facilities with a shower, a flush toilet and an outdoor shower under the stars. The main dining, lounge and pub area is also raised off the ground and tucked beneath a canopy of shady, indigenous trees with a wonderful vista across the floodplains. Each room has its own plunge pool.

Little Vumbura Classic Camp  -  is a beautiful six roomed tented camp situated to the north of Mombo in a private reserve bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta. Little Vumbura offers both water and land activities, as well as walks for those who are keen.
Walks (on request basis only) around the islands give guests the opportunity to enjoy Africa from a different perspective. The tented rooms are large and comfortably appointed, with an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, a shower, and flush toilet - and an outside shower under the stars. The camp has a plunge pool too.

Duba Plains Classic Camp - is perhaps the Okavango Delta's most remote camp. It is located in a private 30 000-hectare reserve and in the furthermost region of the Delta. The camp is situated on an island, surrounded by expansive seasonally flooded plains and shaded by tall ebony, fig and garcinia trees.   This pristine area is home to Lion, Leopard, Lechwe, Elephant and huge herds of Buffalo, as well as a large variety of Okavango Delta bird life. Wattled Cranes and Slaty Egrets are some of the Okavango specials found in the area. The camp is small and intimate, with accommodation in six tented rooms.
Each of the tents has an en-suite bathroom, with hot and cold running water, and a veranda overlooking the floodplain. The dining room and bar area is raised on decks, and there is a great pool with a view.
The camp focuses on the incredible wildlife in the area through game drives, which are conducted during the day and at night in open 4 x 4 vehicles.  

Linyanti Concession - a 125, 000 hectare private concession between the Okavango Delta and the Savuti Region of Chobe National Park, these camps offer a variety of activities, off the beaten track, in beautiful and remote camps. The region's key feature is the Linyanti River and marshes, which are complemented by the contrasting dry woodlands inland. Massive lagoons and steadily flowing rivers abound with papyrus and phragmites. The heavily forested riverine fringes blend into dry countryside further inland, away from the river. This area is best known for its enormous herds of Elephant, which move down to the Linyanti River at the start of our winter months and only retrace their steps inland once the main rains arrive. Sable and Roan Antelope occur, as well as Lion, Leopard and Wild Dog. The marshes are home to Red Lechwe, Sitatunga, Hippo, Crocodiles and wonderful birdlife. Moving along the fringes of the waterways, guests can see Kudu, Zebra, Buffalo, Waterbuck and Impala. These are varied and include game drives, both by day and by night in open 4x4s, game and bird walks, canoeing in stable "Canadian" canoes on the large lagoons and boating on the smaller waterways. 

King's Pool Premier Camp,  Fabulously sited overlooking the King's Pool lagoon, King's Pool luxury tented camp accommodates guests in 10 large walk in tents with en suite facilities. Each tent sits on a raised teak deck and overlooks the King's Pool Lagoon. There is a swimming pool at this stunning camp. Wildlife abounds in this area and activities are the same as at Duma Tau with day and night game drives from open 4x4  vehicles, walks, and boating. In addition the camp has a double decker boat for sundowner cruises on the Linyanti River. 

Savuti Classic Camp -  this small luxury tented camp offers an incredible and exclusive African wildlife experience. Guests are accommodated in 4 large walk in tents each with en suite facilities. There is a small plunge pool. Activities center on day and night wildlife viewing drives and professionally guided walks. 

Duma Tau Classic Camp  - Near the confluence of the Linyanti River and Savuti Channel, this small luxury tented camp is composed of 8 large walk in tents under thatch each with en suite facilities, ceiling fans, and an outdoor shower on the veranda. The main dining area and lounge overlook a plunge pool and beyond an enormous lagoon. Wildlife  abounds with large herds of elephant, zebra, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, sable, roan, eland, giraffe. In addition you are likely to see crocodile, hippo, buffalo. And then there are the predators - lion (the lions in this area have been documented in National Geographic's  films), leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena. Birding is also fantastic. Activities include day and night wildlife viewing drives from open 4x4 vehicles, along with boating and nature walks. Sundowner drinks may be enjoyed from the pontoon boat as hippos snort nearby at this beautiful camp. 

Selinda Concession -  Selinda is a 135 000-hectare reserve located in the northern Kwando/Linyanti Wildlife Management Area that straddles the Selinda Spillway, an ephemeral waterway that links the Okavango Delta to the game-rich floodplains of the Linyanti Swamps and the Zibadianja Lagoon, source of the Savuti Channel.   The wildlife here is stunning: wild dogs den there, lions chase hippos, and there are elephants everywhere.
