17 tents : 9 doubles & 8 twins. The tents are all large and spacious, approximately 27 foot long x 16-foot wide, with King-size beds, elegant en suite bathrooms with steaming hot showers and modern flush toilets.  The tents have a thatched roof over the top, extending to a large private verandah where you can sit and relax.  There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with a magnificent view of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

As Tortilis Camp is located away from the lodge area, our game drives both inside and outside the park, and our game walks are taken away from the main tourist centers.

This is a  traditional safari camp; shaded by an indigenous forest of mature trees.  The the camp looks out on an endless vista of plains game . The 6 traditional safari tents are comfortable and spacious with en-suite hot showers, safari 'short-drop' toilets, washroom and dressing area. Evenings by the campfire overlooking the plains, lit only by the soft glow of hurricane lamps and dinner under the stars are a special feature. This is an original bush camp. Here you leave the modern world behind and relax with nature, evenings bathed in the soft light of hurricane lamps, no generators, no vehicles passing, just the sights and sounds of the bush.

Sitting around the campfire enjoying the sounds of the African night you will feel as if you are 'on safari' and not just staying in the Mara!

Extensive Game Drives each day and some night game drives make game viewing a complete experience.  Walking is possible with  experienced guides.

The lodge has 5 rondavels (open sided cottages) with verandah, shower and toilet, each with its own fabulous view. Sabuk was fashioned out of the local landscape, built with local materials, the hillside, flora, twisted wood and stone boulders incorporated into the architecture. Open walls and private verandahs face out over the river gorge 150 feet below. This hilly area with dense acacia bush is host to a lot of game which varies according to the season: Greater Kudu, reticulated Giraffe, Buffalo, Impala, Elephant, Warthog, Klipspringer, Zebra, Eland, DikDik, Waterbuck, Lion, Leopard, good bird watching and incredible scenery.
